Parental Alienation Decades of Experience

Parental Alienation

Protecting Your Parental Rights

It is no secret that divorce can get ugly and, when a couple shares children, the stakes are even higher and spouses do not always do what is in the best interests of their young ones. Parental alienation occurs when one parent attempts to poison their children against the other parent. Although this behavior is often done out of spite and vengeance against the former spouse, it is incredibly damaging to the children involved. If you suspect your spouse is engaging in parental alienation, contact the team at The Hunter Law Group for the skilled legal assistance you need to protect your rights as a parent.

Contact The Hunter Law Group in Mission Viejo today at (888) 844-9281 to schedule an initial case review with our family law attorney.

Recognizing the Signs of Parental Alienation

It can be difficult to recognize the subtler signs of parental alienation, especially since your children might already be acting differently as they attempt to cope with the changes brought on by the divorce.

There are some signs you should look out for, which often indicate parental alienation:

  • Your children try to exclude you from their lives. For example, if they are involved in sports, they might ask you not to come to any of their games.
  • Your children behave defiantly toward you, despite never having exhibited this sort of behavior before. You might find yourself arguing with them more often than usual and they might even try to provoke bigger reactions out of you.
  • Your children refuse to acknowledge the relationship you previously had with them.
  • Your children claim that alienating you was their idea and zealously protect their other parent against any accusations of turning them against you.
  • Your children appear to have a very co-dependent relationship with their other parent and might even adopt many of his or her ideologies and behavioral patterns.
  • Your children will become increasingly more isolated from other sources of support, such as extended members of your family and family friends. These acts of isolation are often done to further nurture a more co-dependent relationship.

What Our Clients Are Saying

At Hunter Law Group, we've spend over a decade providing unparalleled legal service, advice, and guidance to our clients throughout Southern California.

“I appreciate the way he represented me with honesty and integrity.”
Mr Hunter is a knowledgeable attorney that advised me appropriately through a complicated and sensitive case. He and his staff were attentive and thorough.
    Heidi B.
“My only complaint is that I wish I would have found him earlier.”
I was actually in trial when I realized that my then current attorney "was not cutting it" so to speak. Mr. Hunter agreed to take my case in the middle of trial. I was relieved! Unfortunately, the damage had been done. He was not able to turn the trial judge around, so Mr. Hunter took my case up on appeal and WON! The result on appeal was a reversal of the trial court's spousal support order as well as an order for a new trial on the issue of attorneys' fees. At the second trial on the issue of attorneys' fees and costs, Mr. Hunter was successful in obtaining an order that saved me from having to pay approximately $180,000 in legal fees and costs to my ex-wife. What a relief!!! Mr. Hunter is a master at his craft. My only complaint is that I wish I would have found him earlier.

The Hunter Law Group guided us through a very difficult divorce/child custody case with exceptional knowledge of the law, respect and compassion. Dan Hunter is a very skilled professional and was readily available to hear our concerns. I could not imagine going through this ordeal without him. His experience with the law itself and the court system helped us navigate through this stressful situation. His staff too is excellent!

“I cannot recommend Dan highly enough.”

As an attorney myself, I feel uniquely qualified to review The Hunter Law Group. Dan helped me through my divorce last year with all the professionalism I expected. He did a great job negotiating a reasonable deal in spite of the dilatory and obstreperous conduct of opposing counsel. He was responsive to my inquiries and his legal fees were very reasonable. I cannot recommend Dan highly enough.
